4th Grade Recorder

Welcome to the Recorder Karate Homepage!

Williams-Cone School Recorder Curriculum:

At Williams-Cone School, students learn to play recorders in 3rd & 4th grade. We use a curriculum called "Recorder Karate".

The 3rd grade recorder unit begins in the second half of the 3rd grade year. The curriculm helps students learn to play simple recorder songs while reading notated music.  Students earn colored belts for each new song and skill they master. The emphasis in 3rd grade is to develop music reading skills as well as to learn a few basic recorder playing techniques.

4th graders participate in the second year of the "Recorder Karate" curriculum during the first half of their 4th grade year. 4th grade Recorder Class introduces more playing techniques and uses a new set of songs and skills. There is also a new set of Recorder Belts to earn!
